How Homeownership Creates Financial Freedom: Reflections from St. Simons Island and Nashville Real Estate Broker

Every Fourth of July, I find myself thinking less about fireworks and more about freedom.
As we celebrate America's 250th birthday, I'm reminded of how fortunate we are to live in a country where opportunity still exists for those willing to work hard, dream big, and build something meaningful for their families.
I don't take that freedom lightly.
I'm deeply grateful for the men and women who have served and sacrificed throughout our nation's history to preserve the freedoms we enjoy today. Because of their courage, generations of Americans have had the opportunity to build businesses, raise families, pursue their dreams, and create a better future.
It is truly an honor to be an American.
As a wife, mother, business owner, mortgage broker, and licensed real estate broker serving Georgia and Tennessee, I've spent much of my career helping families navigate one of the most important financial decisions they'll ever make: buying a home and building long-term wealth through real estate.
Why Homeownership Still Matters
As Stan and I have reflected on what freedom means over the years, we've realized it's about much more than financial success.
It's about having choices.
It's about creating a life centered around faith, family, and purpose.
It's about spending time with the people you love and creating memories that will last long after the fireworks have faded.
As parents of four children, we've learned that some of life's greatest blessings aren't measured in dollars and cents. They're found in family dinners, beach walks, holiday traditions, and celebrating life's milestones with the people who matter most.
Today, as we prepare to welcome our first grandchild, we're reminded once again that the things we treasure most aren't possessions—they're people.
Our faith has also shaped the way we view success. Over the years, we've come to believe that true wealth isn't measured solely by what we own, but by how we serve others, steward the blessings we've been given, and invest in the people entrusted to our care. The name Cornerstone & Co. Real Estate reflects that belief. Just as a cornerstone provides strength and stability to a foundation, our faith continues to guide both our family and our business.
And yet, wise financial decisions can help create the freedom to enjoy more of those moments.
That's one of the reasons we're so passionate about homeownership. For many families, owning a home is still one of the most powerful ways to build financial security, create stability, and establish generational wealth. A home is often much more than a place to live—it can become the foundation for future opportunities and long-term financial freedom.
